We all know about the Carnival of the Animals, Camille Saint-Saëns’ charming work for young audiences in which various animals get its own special musical treatment. I’ve made it easier than ever for a normal symphony orchestra to bring this work to life by creating an orchestration that ditches the two pianos that make the scoring so cumbersome.
But what if you want to add some local color to your presentation of this zoological treasury? That’s what these original movements are all about. Pick the ones that you think will connect with your audiences and have at it.
Each set of score and parts (.pdf) is priced at $10. Unfortunately I don’t yet have recordings of these pieces, but if you want to see a perusal score, you can always email me. And if you’ve got an idea for an animal that’s not on the list, please also contact me, since I’m keen to continue adding to the set.
