William White currently resides in Chicago, IL where he is the music director of the Hyde Park Youth Symphony and conductor of the University of Chicago Chamber Orchestra. Mr. White earned his BA in Music with honors at the U of C in 2005, primarily studying composition with Prof. Easley Blackwood. Mr. White also studied conducting for three summers at the renowned Pierre Monteux School in Hancock, ME under Michael Jinbo. From September 05 Ð April 06, he served as interim director of music for the Presbyterian Church of Barrington, IL, in which capacity he composed his Music for Holy Week. Mr. White grew up in Bethesda, MD, where he first began to compose and conduct. In June of 1999, he joined Bethesda's Wildwood Summer Theatre, playing viola in the pit orchestra. Four summers later, he rose to the rank of music director, and conducted the theater's run of West Side Story. Mr. White has continued his work in the theater, both at the U of C and with Chicago's Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company. |
